Garage Sale tomorrow.

Did I really agree to a garage sale tomorrow? I mean.....really? I did this once before about 6 years ago, and vowed NEVER to do this again. I have never met such crazy, tight-fisted people in all my life. I love a bargain but please...... 50 cents for 2 boxes of childrens CD's??? NO. Go home. Get off my driveway.
Now the whole crew is involved....DS wants to sell his wrestlers and his hockey stuff....DD wants to sell EVERYTHING (mental note to check her area for MY stuff).....DBF has now joined in and is bringing his trees that he grows for a hobby....his son is now bringing "stuff".....

All I wanted to do was have a lazy Saturday morning....is that too much to ask?? Tune in tomorrow ....

Proud Mum Moment # 23, 346....

Yet another moment that validates your decision to become a parent. Watching my DS run in the Track Meet today with his school relay team. He originally was picked as a 'sub', but being the team player that he is, was fine with that and religiously went out to all practices knowing fine well he may not be running on the day of the event.

2 days ago he finds out that someone is dropping out, and is pleased as punch to be able to participate.

His heat is in position and the gun is fired. I watch my DS, take the baton from Runner #2 and run with every ounce of adrenalin he can produce. The baton is passed off to the anchor, and Rolling Meadows PS, wins the 400m relay.

I'm so proud of my boy. Not because of first place, but for the team spirit he possesses, and the confidence he has to try out for everything that he does. Bless 'im !!!! xoxox

A Heartwarming Breakthrough for DD

This time last year, my DD's Father and I were told by the school that she is struggling with reading, and would require an IEP (Individual Education Plan), whereby she remains with her peers, but would read at a lower level.

This was all new to us. They started the programme and we found that her confidence soared immediatly, being able to 'keep up' and to be able to comprehend, even though it was at a lower level. An 'A' on a report card speaks volumes to a 7 year old.

Last night, one year later, she happened to pull out a great big Robert Munsch collection of stories, which I assumed was for me to read to her. She opened the book, turned to the first page, poised her finger on the first word and began. My eyes fill even now, as I watched this tiny, nail-polished-chipped finger, point to every word with confidence and clarity...reading away with the ability of an 8 year old, which of what she is today.

My heart couldn't have been any bigger....the pride was busting out my pores. Something so simple that comes so naturally for others took its time for my girl...but its here and Im so proud of her.
